Vaccination against Coronavirus: Health Minister launches new appeal to Algerians

October 26, 2021

Algiers- Speaking on the occasion of National Blood Donor Day, the Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Abderrahmane Benbouzid, called on Algerians, once again, to be vaccinated against the Coronavirus .

To motivate them, the Minister of Health said that the decline of the epidemic in Algeria is the right time for citizens to be injected with the famous anti-Covid-19 vaccine. “We won a battle but not the war,” he warned.

Disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm of the Algerians, Professor Benbouzid expressed his dissatisfaction especially that his services currently have no less than 13 million doses of vaccines. “We were counting on the vaccination of 70% of the affected categories but the citizens were negligent,” he regretted.

“In total, nearly eleven million people have been vaccinated, including nearly 5 million who received the two doses and six million first-time vaccines, a rate of 55% of the targeted categories”.

According to him, several first-vaccinated people shunned the second dose. “This is the opportunity to get the vaccine and put the fear aside,” he pointed out.
